                                    A Bit About Me...

                                    Picture
I am now in my 19th year of teaching grade 8 at St. Mary in Brockville, where I have been for the duration of my career.    This year I will continue in my role  alternating between a Differentiated Instruction Support teacher and  the 8-3 class.   I am excited that Info Tech Committee at the board level has approved our iPad 2 pilot.  As a result we will be have access to 10 iPad 2s which will offer endless possibilities for students to connect to their learning in innovative and meaningful ways.  In addition to my classroom responsibilities I am also involved in coaching the elementary cross country and track and field teams, along with my colleague and good friend Mr. Kelly .  I will once again be involved in convening the LGESAA cross country championships in the fall with more than 2000 athletes competing.  As well I will organize our school track meet and coach the Crusader track and field team in the spring.

I have a strong belief in and passion for incorporating technology in the school and have worked to produce the annual Stop Motion Awards, where the best grade animation projects are screened for the elementary division.    A vibrant school is a school where students are engaged in meaningful assessment tasks.   I am by no means a "tech expert", but challenge myself to learn along with students in finding creative ways to use new technology in the class.  With challenge comes opportunity and growth.

In my time outside of school I enjoy running and fishing, and with my recent purchase of a digital DSLR camera, improving my skills as a photographer.  Summer days will find me in the pool with family and friends or on the water enjoying the Thousand Islands and surrounding area.
