Christmas mass as a family, and remembering the true reason for the season. As commercialism continues to creep into our holiday traditions, I hope you work to keep that feeling alive in your hearts and to help spread this cheer to others. Your generosity and hard work in our school canned food drive is sign of Christ's presence in your lives. I wish you and all your family a very Merry Christmas, and I hope you make an effort to get to mass during the season. What are your Christmas memories? What traditions make Christmas special for you? What links or videos would you include in your holiday favourites?
Growing up Christmas was always an important holiday in our home. While my mom was busy in the kitchen preparing a number of traditional dishes for our feast, my father was equally involved in preparing for company and making sure we were ready to entertain. As for myself I would always help in any way possible (doing dishes, cleaning the rec room, vacuuming), perhaps spurred on by my guilt for any wrong doings during the previous 364 days, and my hope that these last minutes acts, would keep me on the nice list. While some of my fondest memories of a childhood revolve around Christmas morning and the excitement I shared with my brother and sister, it was the feeling that was in our house and in people's hearts that stands out. Now don't get me wrong, I loved the wonder of what was wrapped under the tree and still remember tearing into my Atari 2600 and my new high tech Bauer Challenger skates (see pictures below), but it was then and still now more than a gift exchange. While we regularly attended mass together as Catholics, there was always something special about attending Christmas mass as a family, and remembering the true reason for the season. In my house christmas is important as well, because i have 3 younger siblings its kinda hard and you have to watch what you say around them since they still believe in santa. I would love to go shopping myself for my christmas presents like some of my friends do but i guess it ruins the surprize of opening them christmas morning. My family dosen't really have any speacial traditions. The one memory from christmas that sticks in my head is when my mom was diagnosed with MS right before christmas. It isnt the happiest memory but its the one i will never forget.

Cool Christmas story's, I know my mom works hard to fill our minds with fun Christmas memories, but i never seem to remember any. Except for a few exceptions. Like baking and eating most of the lemon tarts, having my little brother wake me up 4 or 5 hours before we open presents ( which by the way is terrible for me because i hate waiting and love sleep. ) , me picking all my presents because i hate surprises and singing in many Christmas concerts. I loved singing at all the Christmas eve masses. I love singing and performing period. ( its terrible I'm so shy though. ) Although it is always fun to get your friends to sign up and dress up in costumes, like angels, sheep and Mary. Not to mention leading my old school in all the songs at our concerts. But the thing i think i like most about singing in the Christmas season is all the songs that say either: "Have a HOLLY jolly Christmas" or " deck the halls with bows of HOLLY"

We don't really have many traditions. We used to always put up our tree the week before Christmas but the last few years we have been doing it on Christmas eve. Of course there are the usual traditions like having a turkey but we never get to open presents early. last year we had smoked salmon on a bagel for breakfast and I really liked that. Other than those little thing we really don't do a whole lot around Christmas.

Since my parents are split up I basically have 2 Christmas'. On Christmas morning I open gifts at my mom's and then I have to go to my dad's. At each house we always have a big meal :) I get very full by the end of the day! We also have to squeeze my grandparents in there, which we usually go to on Christmas Eve, and yes that means more presents.. On boxing day it is a tradition to go to my uncle's house. All of my cousins and relatives are there. Some other traditions include: opening 1 present on Christmas eve, putting our stockings at the end of our bed so when we wake up we can look at that and not wake my parents up :p, we put mini chocolates on our tree(swiss thing), and we always have to have a giant meaal, :) All in all I have a great Christmas :)

The traditions at my moms and dads are always at both houses setting up in my dads house a giant Christmas tree that barely fit in the house because of its height and at my moms a tiny tree that I am almost taller than. Putting on thousands of ornaments because we get a new one every year. And baking lots of treats like candy cane bark, cookies, truffles …. But my favorite tradition is Christmas morning brunch all of my family goes to my dad’s house eat brunch and then open gifts

During Christmas my sisters jump for joy everyday in hopes of the presents they want for christmas. As my sisters still believe they ask for many many things also expensive. Some Christmas traditions at my house are going to my cousins' house on Christmas day. Then at supper we always play 'would you rather'. In the game you give another player two options and then they have to chose between the two, it's usually disgusting

I found another interesting tradition my family has. Every year before Christmas dinner we open crackers, then we read the jokes and wear the hats through dinner. Although it seems that i always get the worst toy. This year i got what i thought was a melted cat. Then after dinner i end up with 3 or 4 hats on my head, but i never care because i have already eaten almost all my candy, by now its all gone. :D

Christmas with my family is really fun! I think it's because we have a lot of traditions. A couple of days before Christams I go to my Grandmothers house and bake. We bake pies and bread for christams day! Then on christmas morning we get up and open up gifts. Usually my Mom and Dad save the best one for last. Later that day (stiil in the morning) my Dad, Mom, brother, and I go there and open up gifts that my Grandma, Great-Grandmother, Great- Aunt and 2nd cousin give us. After opening up the gifts we make a big brunch. Later in the afternoon neighboors of my Grandma come over (they have two sons around my brother and I's age) and we hang-out. The adults usually talk while we play games or watch movies! Anticipating our Big Christmas dinner. On boxing day my family goes to my Moms sister house for Christmas on her side of the family. On her side of the family there is a lot of people! There are 8 sillings (not including spouses!) and 14 grandchildren! Because there are so many of us the kids do a gift exchange and the parents have a chinese auction! I enjoy watching the chinese auction because it is always very exciting!! We have a buffet style dinner and then we go home. I very much enjoy Christmas! :)
